In 2008,the Kurzweil PC3 and PC3X range brought ground-breaking developments in music technology. Now they bring things full circle with the fullest access to legacy sounds offered by any modern keyboard.
Though not intended as a full blown sampler, lacking audio inputs, getting sounds into the PC3K8 is fairly straightforward - by using a thumb drive plugged into the USB port on the back. Load programs and setups from the K2000, K2500 and K2600 series, and load samples the same way. Once you have your audio safely on board, you can then process it using the superb VAST (Variable Architectue Synthesis Technology), which could yield many happy hours. Backward sound compatibility is impressive, if not quite total - offering the simplest method we know of to access some of the most glorious sounds created from the mid nineties onwards.

Capable of loading .KRZ/25/26 sample files, WAVE and AIFF files, as well as most of the K Series programs and setups, the PC3K presents a whole new world of choices to players, and once again underscores Kurzweil's commitment to the concept of non-obsolescence by design. If delving into such a huge music library is not enough for you, then you could simply decide to cram full the PC3K's 128MB flash memory with your own signature samples.

Let it be lasting, immortal. Since the introduction of digital sampling in the early 80's musicians have been simply crying out for user samples that don't go away when the power is turned off. The PC3K provides this. As if this wasn't enough, once samples are loaded onto the PC3K's flash memory access to them is instantaneous with zero loading time. Advanced program, keymap and sample editing features allow you to customize your sounds with surgical precision. You're able to map any sample to any key, tune individual samples, change the start, alt start, loop point and end point of samples and even assign a controller to adjust sample start point in real-time.
Pure Technological Advancement
Under the hood of the PC3X is simply the most powerful synthesis engine ever created by Kurzweil. Dynamic V.A.S.T. picks up where the K series left off. Having up to 32 layers per program means that emulations of real instruments can be extremely detailed and accurate, while the synthesized sounds can be extraordinarily large and complex. A further advancement with the V.A.S.T. technology is that of the freedom for users to create and store their own DSP algorithms, with nearly limitless possibilities for routing.
On top of all this, Kurzweil have resurrected the VA-1 Virtual Analogue Synthesiser by building it right in with the system of the PC3K. Once you hear the VA-1's power-shaped, anti-aliasing oscillators combined with a newer, larger set of V.A.S.T. filters and non-linear processors you'll understand why we are talking about something truly special.
The Sound

The high-tech synthesis architecture combined with a painstakingly edited sample ROM has spawned a sound set which is truly deep and broad. All you have to do is plug it in
All kinds of saving, updating and loading are quick and easy on the PC3K due to it's inclusion of USB Host and Device ports. You can save your user programs, setups and songs to a USB thumb-drive or directly to a computer. Samples and OS updates can be loaded from a thumb-drive or directly from your computer, and of course the PC3K sends and receives MIDI over USB.
